| The Faculty of Medicine is a national leader in health research with an international reputation for excellence and innovation. The Faculty of Medicine consistently ranks among the top three in federal funding per researcher. The Faculty received over $130 million in 2008-2009 in research grants and contracts from federal and provincial governments, charitable organizations and industry. Our endowment funds have virtually matched pace with the rest of our growth. Valued at a little over $40 million eight years ago, and $96 million in 2006, our total endowment today is over $150 million. Ten years ago we had one Research Chair. Today we have 53. One of the Faculty's greatest strengths is its organization of research into seven transdisciplinary Institutes which together with Centres, contribute to the development and delivery of each of the three pillars of the Faculty of Medicine – research, education and service to society.
