The Thoracic Surgery Residency Training Program at the University of Calgary is a program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Upon completion of the program, candidates are eligible for examination in the specialty of Thoracic Surgery.

We accept residents who have completed residency training in General Surgery or Cardiac Surgery. The training program is 2 years in duration, consisting of 18 months Thoracic Surgery, 4 months adult Cardiac Surgery, 1 month Interventional Pulmonary Medicine, and 1 month elective.

At present, we are accepting one resident every two years. Interested applicants are encouraged to forward their application two years prior to the desired date of entry into the program.
