Philadelphia

In this Oscar Award-winning movie, Tom Hanks stars as Andrew Beckett, a Philadelphia lawyer who has HIV/AIDS and is keeping this hidden from his conservative bosses. When he is inexplicably fired, Andrew suspects AIDS is the reason.

The film will be introduced by Dr. Guido van Marle, HIV/AIDS researcher and Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Following the movie presentation, Dr. van Marle will lead a brief discussion on the latest research in HIV and AIDS.
