The University of Calgary’s Faculty of Medicine and Alberta Health Services jointly operate three family medicine teaching clinics in Calgary. The clinics are staffed by numerous family doctors and act as a teaching tool for family medicine “residents” (recently graduated physicians training in family medicine).
As a result of the recent expansion of the family medicine residency training program, made possible through funding from the Alberta government, the clinics have hired more family doctors who are able to accept new patients.
The South Health Campus Teaching Clinic is currently recruiting patients.
In addition to family doctors, the clinics also have other health care workers on site including: nutritionists, pharmacists, psychologists and chronic care nurses.
This clinic provides all standard primary care services. All patients will be assigned to a family doctor, however this is a teaching centre and you will also have appointments with medical school graduates who are completing their residency programs.
