The innovation uses powerful mathematics to analyze and reliably interpret CT scans, MRI, and other medical images. The results include 3D images that clinicians can view by smartphone, whether they are across the city from the patient, or across the continent.

The U of C researcher who is a member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and Southern Alberta Cancer Research Institute is now being recognized for his work and has been nominated for the Manning Innovation Award.

Nominated Canadians who have demonstrated recent innovative talent in developing and successfully marketing a new concept, process or procedure may be eligible for one of these awards:  the EnCana $100,000 Principal Award; the Dave Mitchell $25,000 Award of Distinction; and two Innovation Awards of $10,000 each.

The award winners will be announced in Fall 2010.
